At a glance

What you'll experience

This package is a short round trip of Bali, planned to show you the island as a whole in just three days: the sacred mountain and western jungle, daily life in the villages and the cultural centre of Ubud, then a waterfall in lush greenery and Balinese art to finish.

It suits you if you want a short holiday package with a private driver and no change of hotel: you leave your accommodation each morning and return each afternoon. Every day combines several Bali activities, with stops for photos, food and unhurried walks.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Batukaru Temple, jungle and Jatiluwih rice terraces

  • 08.30: We leave your hotel and go straight to Batukaru Temple, also known as Watukaru.
  • Batukaru Temple (Pura Luhur Batukaru): Dedicated to the god Mahadeva, whose palace, according to tradition, lies on Mount Batukaru, the second-highest mountain in Bali. It is a place of worship for the balance and fertility of nature, because the mountain is regarded as the guardian of western Bali. Around it you’ll find virgin mountain jungle, rivers and a pond, and carved reliefs at the temple.
  • Jatiluwih rice terraces: Beautiful views over terraced rice fields, with the river, its valley and the cliffs behind them. These terraces and Batukaru Temple are part of the Cultural Landscape of Bali, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2012.
  • Lunch at a mountain restaurant: Healthy food with an authentic Balinese flavour.
  • Taru Putih tree, Desa Tua: We visit this well-known giant white-wood tree, surrounded by farmland and quiet village life.
  • Around 17.00: Back to your hotel.

Day 2: traditional house in Batuan, Ubud and Tegallalang

  • Traditional house in Batuan: We visit an authentic Balinese home in Batuan village to understand how people live: their houses, their temples, their daily work and the education system in Bali.
  • Ubud, the island’s cultural centre: We explore this traditional town in the middle of Bali and visit local traditional markets for art, handicrafts and natural products from the island.
  • Lunch in Tegallalang: We eat at a typical bistro with a panoramic view over the village and its palm trees.
  • Back to your hotel: After lunch we head straight to the hotel. The drive to the Kuta area, near the beach, takes about 1.5 hours.

Day 3: Tegenungan Waterfall and an artists' village

  • Tegenungan Waterfall: We visit this waterfall on the Petanu River in Kemenuh village, surrounded by jungle. It is one of the closest to the south of the island and still truly impressive. There are plenty of photo spots, and it is a good place to have a snack at a bar and try the local beer. It is usually quite busy.
  • Artists’ village: On the way we stop at an artists’ village to see paintings, batik and the work of young artists.
  • Other lovely spots: If you like, we visit another beautiful place close to the route back to your hotel in Kuta.
